Dr. Stijn Wielandt is an Electronic Research Scientist/Engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the Engineering Division (EG), working on Low-Level RF (LLRF) systems in the Accelerator Technology Group (ATG). As an electrical engineer with extensive experience in RF systems, embedded programming, and digital design, he develops and implements RF control systems for particle accelerators. Besides this field, he also supports interdisciplinary research on wireless communication technologies and environmental sensor systems.

In 2017 he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Engineering Technology from KU Leuven, Belgium, for his work on beam forming with phased antenna arrays and radio frequency propagation simulations for indoor localization systems. From 2011 till 2019 he worked at the Wavecore research group of KU Leuven, focusing on wireless communications, wireless power, and wireless localization technologies. Throughout his career in research, he worked as a visiting scholar at the UC Berkeley Wireless Research Center (California) and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (Germany).
Before joining the ATG at LBL, he was working as a scientist in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Area, working on radio frequency technologies and wireless sensor systems for monitoring above-ground and subsurface hydrogeophysical properties. He also worked on low power wireless sensor networks, 5G and beyond-5G communication systems, embedded systems, and remote electromagnetic sensing.
